Third period goal sparks Bears’ second win over Bridgeport Islanders

The Hershey Bears (2-1) tallied a second win to the season’s column on Wednesday night, beating the Bridgeport Islanders (0-3) 3-2 in a back and forth game.

The first period was scoreless, and Bogdan Trineyev got the scoring started with 11:38 left in the second period, a goal off assists from Henrik Rybinski and Chase Priskie.

Bridgeport answered with two second-period goals of their own, one from Alex Jeffries and the other, to take a 2-1 lead, from Chris Terry.

Mike Sgarbossa gave the Bears another tie score, 2-2, with a goal with 11:04 remaining. Ivan Miroshnichenko, fresh off a hat trick in the Bears’ second Cleveland game, came in huge for Hershey, scoring the go-ahead goal with 9:59 remaining. It was the final goal of the game, as the Bears came away with a 3-2 win.

Hunter Shepard played all 60 minutes in net, seeing 31 shots and saving 29.

The Bears move to 2-1 on the season ahead of a two-game set in Hershey against Cleveland.
