Additionally, the Bears received Zac Funk from the Capitals, as Funk continues to rehab an injury with Hershey. He can officially be added to Hershey’s roster when he becomes healthy.

Aaron Ness is listed as Hershey’s captain once again for the upcoming year, which will be Ness’ eighth season with the team. Another veteran in Matt Strome was added to the roster as well, who is returning to the Bears for a fourth season. His most notable season came in 2024, scoring the game-winner in the Calder Cup finals to win a 13th title.

DJ King was also brought on as a training camp tryout player, the son of new Bears’ head coach Derek King. DJ is currently signed to the Bears’ ECHL affiliate, the South Carolina Stingrays.

Sunday is Hershey’s first day of training camp, held at 11 a.m. at Hersheypark Arena. Starting Monday, the camp will take place at GIANT Center, with the first chance to hear from select players and Derek King on Monday following practice.
